01 — Youth Work Methods Workshops

Choose from 10 interactive workshops modeled on the Weikart Center’s pyramid of program quality designed to give frontline teams practical skills that can be implemented immediately. Methods include Youth Voice, Planning & Reflection, Building Community, Cooperative Learning, Homework Help, Active Learning, Ask-Listen-Encourage, Reframing Conflict, Structure & Clear Limits, and Introduction to the Active-Participatory Approach.

02 — Introduction to the Virtues Project

The Virtues Project nurtures our children in the skills and qualities they need to be successful in school and in life. Virtues are essential to the true goal of education – intelligence plus character. Too many of our children are technical wizards and moral illiterates. Power plus control leads to violence. Power plus compassion transforms bullies into inspiring leaders. The Five Strategies are Speak the language of virtues, Recognize teachable moments, Set clear boundaries, Honor the spirit, and Offer companioning.

03 — Fundamentals of Restorative Practices

Building and strengthening relationships and community is a critical component of school culture. Restorative practices is an essential process for creating a positive learning environment, building social capital, and resolving relational issues. Topics include the importance of being explicit about practice, how to set high expectations while being supportive, and ways to build community in your setting. We will discuss giving direct feedback and asking questions that foster accountability, as well as utilizing effective methods to resolve common conflicts.

04 — ACE Interface

ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) is a public health disaster which has been hidden from view until very recently. ACE Interface training builds on new awareness of this natural phenomenon to facilitate the expansion of interdisciplinary, multi-sector, and community connections that lead to healthy, sustainable empowerment strategies and change.
